Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching
In 2025, I was selected as the 2021 Illinois National Awardee of the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST), the highest recognition bestowed by the United States government for K–12 STEM teaching. The award recognizes excellence in science and mathematics education, leadership, and commitment to student learning.
What PAEMST Means to Me
This recognition reflects the students, colleagues, mentors, and communities who have shaped my journey as an educator. Throughout my career, I have worked to create science learning experiences that connect science, community, justice, and meaningful participation in the building of scientific knowledge.
